Silvano Maya
Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Therapy Manager

Mr. Maya, a graduate from Houston Stafford High School, attended and earned an Airframe and Power Plant Certificate from Westwood College of Aviation in 2000. He has held veterinary assistant positions with three VCA Hospitals in Houston: Spring Branch, Southwest Freeway and Ashford. From 2002 to 2005, he was Head Procedure Technician at Gulf Coast Veterinary Dermatology. Mr. Maya has been with Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists since 2004 and is now Diagnostic Imaging and Radioiodine Head Technician.

David Batagower
Emergency & Critical Care Manager

David Batagower is a 1999 graduate of Bellaire High School and should finish a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology this year. He has been employed by several veterinary clinics and hospitals, expanding his knowledge and awareness of various medical procedures, training methods and management styles. His interests are intensive care patient management, stabilization of severe emergency cases, client relations and staff training. Mr. Batagower held positions at All Cats Veterinary Clinic, Meyerland Animal Clinic, Texas A&M University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, ADVISYS (a biotechnical firm in The Woodlands), Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists Internal Medicine Emergency and Critical Care section and Animal Emergency Clinic Loop 610.

Jennifer Carpenter
Diagnostic Imaging Technician

Ms. Carpenter graduated from Katy Taylor High School and attended the University of Houston for 4 years studying biology. She was a technician at Westheimer Highway 6 Animal Hospital for 8 years before joining the Diagnostic Imaging team at SLVS. She has also worked in some local animal rescue facilities.

Anne M. Amy
Emergency Critical Care Section, Veterinary Nurse and Lab Coordinator

Anne M. Amy graduated from Houston’s Regan High School. Anne is a licensed Notary Public, an NNA Certified Signing Agent and an Ordained Minister. Anne was an Emergency & Critical Care Nurse at Houston Veterinary Services, Animal Emergency Clinic – Loop 610 before joining our team in December 2007. She has been actively involved in animal rescue and rehabilitation for over 14years and has worked with H.O.P.E., Friends of BARC and the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care. Anne also does private animal rescue and rehabilitationwhen the need arises.

Kim Grasty, Emergency Section
Certified Veterinary Technician and Inventory Coordinator

Kim is a 1998 graduate of the Western School of Health and Business Careers, Pittsburgh, PA, where she earned a Certificate as a Veterinary Technician. She first applied these skills at Holman Animal Clinic in Annapolis, MD from 1998 to 2002. A move to Houston lead to a position with the Gulf Coast Animal Eye Clinic from 2002-2004. She gained valuable emergency experience at the Veterinary Emergency Referral Group, Inc, Houston from 2004-2007.

Mitzi Falconer
Diagnostic Imaging Support Staff

Mitzi Falconer is a native Houstonian, graduating from Langham Creek High School. She then attended and graduated from Tomball College with an Associate Degree of Applied Animal Science in 2005. She then passed the board exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is currently attending Cy-Fair College obtaining the prerequisite courses for application to veterinary school. Mitzi has been employed by Eastex Veterinary Hospital from 2003-2005, Animal Emergency Center of West Houston from 2005-2006 and Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in the Radiation Therapy/Oncology Department from 2004-2008. Mitzi joins the Radiation Oncology Team at SLVS with a knowledge of linear accelerators that few veterinary technicians have. (Or anybody else!)

Tina Boone

Tina Boone
Emergency and Critical Care Support Staff

Tina Boone served in the U.S. Army in the early 1990s, having been stationed in Germany from 1992-1995. She continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 2004. She began her career in veterinary medicine in San Antonio, then Killeen, and finally to Houston where she has assisted in general practice and emergency facilities prior to joining the Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists staff in Emergency Critical Care and Surgical Sections.

Roxanne Kascak

Roxanne Kascak
Oncology Support Staff

Ms. Kascak grew up just down the street in Alvin, Texas where she graduated high school in 2003. She always had a desire to protect and care for animals. In 2005, she began developing her technical skills working at various small animal hospitals in the Houston area. She finally found her passion for oncology at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists where she worked as a technician in their oncology section. Roxanne is now part of the Sugar Land Veterinary Specialist Oncology Team where she is helping animals and their families cope with the fight against cancer.

Sarah Mohler

Sarah Mohler
Surgery Support Staff

Sarah Mohler was raised in San Antonio. She received her RVT in San Antonio at Palo Alto Community Collage under their Veterinary Technology program. She also earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in June of 2008. Sarah has a general interest in pathology and, more specifically, in exotic animals. She is always interested in learning anything that makes her a better technician.

Nissan Mosapor is a Los Angeles native. He has worked over 10 years in various specialty practices gaining a wide array of experiences ranging from emergency medicine to surgical services. Nissan has supervised and managed several specialty hospitals in California. His focus has been on surgery. He is skilled with anesthesia protocols and has an extensive knowledge of surgical procedures. Every year he continues to further his knowledge by attending continuing education all over the country and is currently in school finishing his business degree. He is excited to be in Texas and looks forward to continuing his role as surgical manager in the SLVS Family.

Lisa Bunk

Lisa Bunk is a 2001 graduate of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She began working with animals at a young age on a farm in North Central Iowa. After college, she began her career as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Iowa State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Since 2004, she has worked in both the greater Seattle and Houston areas gaining valuable experience in all areas of surgery including anesthesia, radiology, surgical assisting, and postoperative patient care.

Amy Ybarra

Amy moved to Sugar Land in September of 2007 from Corpus Christi, TX. In Corpus Christi, she was a Veterinary Assistant at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Race Track and a student at Texas A&M Corpus Christi majoring in Bio-Medical Science. She is now attending the University of Houston in Sugar Land working toward a Bachelors degree in Biology. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school in pursuit of a career as a Medical Doctor.
