Originally from Baytown, Tanya earned an Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Technology, Paramedic II. She worked as a paramedic for several years, but then realized her true passion was working with animals in specialty veterinary medicine. With over 20 years of veterinary experience, she has worked as a technician in emergency, neurology, ICU, and internal medicine and has been with the SLVS family since 2010. In late 2014 she transferred from the technical side of veterinary medicine to become the SLVS Marketing and Social Media Coordinator. She lives with her 4 rescue dogs, Molly (Poodle/Schnauzer mix), Mia (Spitz mix), Maddie (Shih Tzu), and Bella (Italian Greyhound). She is also a mentor with the Houston Amputee Society and the American Amputee Society. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, and attending Sci-Fi & comic book conventions. She is also an active member with the 501st Legion which is a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization that raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as various other charities.
Tina served in the US Army in the 1990s and was stationed in Germany from 1992 – 1995, then served in the Reserves until 2004. She began her career in veterinary medicine in San Antonio in 1995, moved to Killeen, then on to Houston where she gained experience in general practice and emergency facilities. She joined the SLVS family on December 21, 2007, almost at the beginning, working in the Emergency-Critical Care, Surgery, and ICU Sections. In July 2013, she became our full-time Inventory/Equipment/Facilities Coordinator. Tina has numerous cute, furry friends in her household!
